Change is Inevitable-----and Fast

We both worked at an antique store.  It was a quirky place in an old Victorian hotel.  The hot summer days were sometimes hard, but usually fun.  The place had no air conditioning.  Also no computers, no real cash registers, and our telephone intercom system consisted of banging on the ceiling or the floor if there was a call for someone on the other level.  One thing happens when you work at a low-tech business like this----your skills become outdated.  Fast forward to the store closing down, and we were left to job hunt in a world that had changed.  The newspaper is no longer a good resource for jobs.  It's all about Craigslist.  The hard part is, most companies hide their identity and you don't know where you are applying.  You just have a basic job description.  You fax resumes into outer space and then you wait.  And wait.   And then you decide to stop wasting money on sending faxes and on paper and printing supplies, because you never hear one word.  Ever.  Even after you devise clever ways of disguising the fact that you are over fifty.  That is why we are gardening for dollars, having yard sales, and looking for ways to make cash online.  At least we got one of our gardening jobs after advertising on Craigslist.  It's a new world.

A Little Online Cash?

We who are underemployed are always looking for ways to make a little extra cash.  But then, there are those scams out there.  One site we've found that is legit is Instant Cash Sweepstakes.  For answering very short, fun survey questions, you get rewarded with a few cents.  You can take a new survey every three hours.  They are real simple, like, "what's your favorite ice cream flavor," etc.  The key to ICS is signing up others, because every cent they earn is also added to your account if they sign up with your link.  It's not big money but it's pocket cash-----especially if your friends sign up too.  Sign up with the link below and make us and yourselves some change:

"Get Rich Click" Arrived

I received the Marc Ostrofsky book Get Rich Click yesterday, and have spent the last day paging through it.  I had trouble reading it in order----there were things in the Table of Contents I wanted to jump right to.  I thought that it would be too tech savvy, and some of the ideas are.  But there are some simple ideas to try also, and lots of lists of websites to refer to for continued learning.  I believe it was money well-spent-----well, I didn't exactly pay for it, I got it with swagbucks gift cards.  More on that later.  I feel more comfortable using websites and methods that have been vetted by Marc Ostrofsky----there seem to be a lot of scams out there.  If you want to try to make some money online, this is a reasonable book that just could help.  Click on the link below and peruse the book on Amazon.

Let us know if you try any of the book's suggestions and how they work!

Yard Saling for Cash

We had our second yard sale last weekend.  We use the group method, gather about five friends together to sell and move from house to house.  That works well around here, since we are limited to two yard sales a year per household.  We were dead tired by the end of the day, but cash in our pockets made that feel a little better.  I admit it, we are "pickers."  We gather things that others have deemed too old or ragged to donate, and try to restore and refurbish.  Also picked up another gardening gig, for now.  And I ordered the book Get Rich Click after hearing about it on "The View" yesterday.  Still looking for online ventures to round out the local endeavors, and this book sounded intriguing.
